UPDATED SITE !!!

Philmont Trek Openings (April 19, 2005)

Six openings are available for a 10-day Philmont Trek. The Trek will depart on the morning of August 6, from LAX. Hiking will begin on August 8, and finish on August 18. The Trek will return to LAX on the evening of August 19. Airfare is approximately $260 (LAX to Albuquerque, NM.) Trekkers will be bused from Albuquerque to Philmont and back. The cost of the Trek, excluding airfare is $495.  

The 50-64 mile trek will begin after breakfast on August 8. The specific trek has not been determined.  

The trip will also include time on August 7 and on August 18 for shopping, visiting museums and evening programs.  

This is not a beginner’s trip.  Coed participants are welcome. Be ready for an adventure of a lifetime! Good attitude and a respect for nature are a must.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! For THE BIG RACE AT MISSION LAKE

Come be a part of this exciting celebration by volunteering your time and enthusiasm! You will gain the satisfaction of helping others while having a great time!

All volunteers will receive a volunteer T-shirt. If needed, you will also earn Community Service hours.

Volunteers needed in the following areas:

REGISTRATION

Help with the morning registration. Work with Time Management to help sign up late runners, pass out goodie bags and T-shirts. Help with general questions and directing traffic at registration. 40 Volunteers needed in this area.

PARKING LOTS

Help with the flow of parking and directing cars into available parking lots. Some lots will also have shuttle stations. We will need volunteers to help keep the shuttles on schedule. 24 Volunteers needed in this area.

WATER STATIONS

Help pass out water at 3 different water stations along the course. 15 volunteers needed in this area, 5 at each station.

FINISH LINE

Help with stocking food and water at the finish line shoot. Help cheering on the runners at the finish line. Help Time Management with recording runner’s times and collecting bib numbers. 40 volunteers needed in this area.

ON COURSE CHEERING

Volunteers needed to cheer on all runners, walkers and kids! Enthusiastic people wanted to line the beautiful course around Lake Mission Viejo to help cheer everybody on. As many volunteers needed to line the whole course. This will add fun and excitement to our event.

VOLUNTEER INFO

The Expo and volunteer check-in will be held at the Youth Athletic Park, located at 22056 Olympiad Road.

Friday, July 29th- Volunteers are encouraged to stop by the Youth Athletic Park on Friday, July 29th anytime between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. to get their race day job assignment and pick-up their T-shirt. There will be a separate volunteer check-in table. We hope all volunteers will be able to do this as it will help make race day run more smoothly

Race Day- Saturday, July 30th
All volunteers must arrive at the park by 5:30 a.m. on race day! Check in at the volunteer table near registration. Every volunteer must check-in on race day! Even if you checked in on Friday and already have your job assignment you must check-in again.

Volunteer parking will be available at the Youth Athletic Park and the Upper Lake Parking lot.

All volunteers will receive a special Volunteer Big Race T-shirt and will be able to take part in the Expo activities.
